Cultural Deep Dive

Each region of Thailand has a very distinct culture and even dialect

We were able to visit Teacher Appreciation Day at a local elementary school. Each classroom will make their very own decorative flower display as part of a competition. Students also make their own person flower bouquets for their teacher!

Our Thai buddies taught us how to make our own bouquets to hand out during the ceremony too! After the ceremony, we even shared in lunch with the students at the school - so very nice of them!

It’s no secret that Elephant Town is all about the elephants

Elephants are part of deep-rooted cultural and economic traditions in Elephant Town. They are living, working part of a family who owns and takes care of them. They have to find work in order to help their caretakers earn a living. Many captive elephants are performers in shows for tourists - it’s a controversial practice that many are working to change but it’s a very complex issue as these practices are tied to cultural traditions and are the economic lifeblood of this community.

Muay Thai

We were given access to the Thai Military Base to learn Muay Thai from service members! It was such a rare and interesting opportunity that we are most grateful for!

Just a lot of fun and games

Going to the market!
