Transit & Arrival in Elephant Town, Thailand
We had a long but fun journey to get to Elephant Town. Since we arrived during the day, the school arranged for us to visit the elephant study center where they train elephants so they are able to work and entertain tourists. These elephants are the ones people will watch when visiting Thailand. We are visiting their hometown and the getting to know the families and the kids who raise the elephants. We also visited a festival in the evening in the big city nearby on this first day!
Welcome to Elephant Town!
Our first full day in Elephant town was very eye opening! Our partner school welcomed us with an official ceremony where we met our buddies for the week. These students partnered with us to not only improve their nascent English skills but also to act as guides and helpers so we could teach as many students at the school as possible! We visited an elephant caretakers house and they let us ride their elephants through town! We even got to ride the elephants into the nearby lake!!
